What if we truly operated in our identity...

I have been thinking lately about identity and realizing that in the craziness of life the past few months, I have been ignoring mine. Don't get me wrong, I had glimpses of it but for the most part it sat in a pretty little box on a shelf to collect dust. And, as it was sitting on that shelf, I was forgetting who God truly says I am. As in, deeply, to my core who I am. When we don't keep that identity front and center, it opens the door wide for the enemy to yell the lies we tend to listen to and he does it in a way that we somehow start to believe.

My husband and I were talking the other night and I started speaking about identity. I looked at him and said that I know without a doubt that God has given me two specific phrases to focus on and I spoke them aloud and with authority. There was a moment when I did this that was incredible. I believed it. I could feel it to my core. I resonated with it. I knew it was truth from God. I felt peace about it. AND, I got a glimmer of excitement again. Yes, I know it can be unnerving too because the call can feel big and the words can be bold but I knew that the words I had been listening to were lies. Those lies can come from some of your closest people who you love the most. Words really matter. God's words matter the most.

What if you spent some time with God and asked who He says YOU are? One thing that is so cool when we do this and are around others who also know, we can see how uniquely God created each of us! I have the privilege of operating in my identity and I can celebrate your amazing identity too! Another thing that happens when you become more aware of who God says you are, is that you recognize when you are being derailed by non-godly influences. Shift can happen faster with less distraction.

While spending much time working with women of all ages and in different capacities, one glaringly consistent issue is that we are living in a distracted, busy culture. The busier people are, the less time they spend with God to hear what He wants to say. The busier we are, the less time we spend in God's word knowing to our core what truth is and, instead, we open the door for so many lies. If the enemy can distract us from God's truth, we miss all God has for us. I don't know about you but I am not interested in all this distraction. I deeply desire a life where I am intimately connected to God living out who He says I am. I do not want to keep up with the Joneses rather I want to rest in God's desire knowing that I am enough in His eyes by simply existing with Him. What if we lived this out and taught the next generation as well? What ripple can we create prioritizing rest in Christ? I promise you His best is not a spinning out of control, exhausted woman. I have been there too many times and I know it is not when I am living my best life with God.

Our world will try to convince you otherwise. Would you join me in choosing to buck what the world wants? Let's spend some time in God's word and look at what community, family, church, etc were intended to be. A great convo for a different day. Our brains were not created to be inundated with the borage of information that comes at us today. So how do we slow life down, spend more time listening to God, and living in our identity the way He intended. This is a great question for us to discuss and take to the Lord. What are your thoughts?

Sister, you are a wildflower. God created you uniquely in HIS image. He wants you to be in relationship with Him in order to be all the best He has for you!

What if you, yes you sweet friend, realized all you could be?

Oh beautiful wildflower.... I really love you so much! I have been pondering and chewing on so many things over the past few months. God has put some incredible visions and dreams on my heart that I cannot wait to share with you! Today I am sitting in a quiet hotel room in Austin, TX and have the whole day to myself. What a gift, right? I have been looking forward to this time and the opportunity to sit with you to chat. I know we are not physically together BUT we are in spirit and when you read this you will know that I was thinking about YOU!

I am so blessed to have many, many conversations with y'all. The truck is such a special, safe place for people and I love that you share your struggles, thoughts, and hearts. I hear an overwhelming sense of frustration and "stuckness" (is this even a word? You know what I am saying though!). We are frustrated with our weight, limits, controls on us, changes out of our hands, politics, lack of kindness, etc. I hear you and I totally know how you feel. In that, I am going to pose the question ...WHAT IF....

What if you lost the weight, then what? What if people were kinder, then what? What if controls changed, then what?

How about this....what if we stopped worrying about our weight and just chose to be healthy (please know that I am pointing all 10 fingers at me with this statement). What if we focused on the dreams God puts on our hearts instead of the external circumstances that are frustrating? What if you, yes you sweet friend, realized all you could be? All that God has for you? What if? What if you could have a job you loved? A marriage you dreamed about? Friends that fill your cup? PEACE?

Many of you know my story. For those who don't, I am always happy to share and will do more at a different time. There is nothing super spectacular about my story, it was simply life changing for our family. I don't expect people to fall over and be impressed, instead my hope is that it gives you hope too. Out of months in bed from a car accident with a brain injury, I had a LOT of quiet time with God and was blessed to gain some clarity on my calling and dreams. It was the hardest time of my life so far. It was painfully lonely. And, every moment God was there. Born out of really really hard stuff, was dreams and passions AND God is doing it in His timing with my limited capabilities. It is incredibly humbling to see how God can and does work. In fact, I was walking around town this morning with my husband and commented to him how crazy it is that I cannot handle a busy, loud restaurant but can build what I'm working on right now (more to come!!). I suppose it is truly in our weakness He can make us strong. It is so interesting to me.

So back to what if? What if you listened to that dream and walked through that door? Often the dream requires patience. Isn't that the hardest!!! So what dream has been put on your heart? Did you pack it away because it didn't make sense at the time? Or are you mindfully paying attention to the time when the door opens towards it? What if you get to walk through that door today? What then? Will you do it? I can promise you, it will not be easy and it will be a big scary . . but...what if? What if it works out in the coolest and craziest way? What if it is more incredible that you could ask or imagine? What if?

As we start taking some leaps of faith, I hope this can encourage you to walk through the door as it opens, to try the new things, to do what scares you because, what if doing it puts you in a space to do incredible things for the people in your space or in this world? What if the dream on your heart can change lives for the better? What if you can encourage somebody else to step out of their comfort zone to something greater? Could you imagine a world where we live out the dreams God gives us? WHAT IF....

Confessions of a Small Biz Owner

And I can tell you that each and every one of you are welcome on my truck.

I gotta be honest. This past year has been hard. So many people ask how it has been with a the Covid drama. I really would love to say it’s been great! All good! But I am just not a liar and I hold great value in truth. So my truth is this past year has been so incredibly hard. Most of us are working our tails off pivoting just to keep moving.

But, do you know why it has been so hard? It’s not the working hard... it’s the constant criticism. It’s the constant division. Each and every one of us has had to make a choice how we will show up and how we will run our biz. The most disappointing thing I have witnessed is biz owners bashing other biz owners because they make a different choice. None of the choices are easy. These choices come with research, risk, and huge amounts of stress no matter what you choose.

Isn’t all of life about choices and differing opinions? Wouldn’t our world be boring if everyone was the same? Why now have we come to this place where there is no room for different thinking or beliefs?

Wildflowers... we are better than this. I know that Jesus called us to love each other. So I’m working really hard to do just that. Will you make that choice with me? In a field of roses, you are a wildflower. Now more than ever in my life I feel this is true. It does not matter what side of the fence you are on, you can choose to love all people (yes, I know that many are making it super hard). And when we choose this posture, it makes it super tough to tear them down. Agree or disagree with their choices, that’s fine. Bash them, nope. If you don’t agree, don’t shop there. We all have choices for a reason. What if everyone chose to love all people��? What if? But I can only control me and you can control you so let’s do it! Will you join me? And I can tell you that each and every one of you are welcome on my truck. I welcome you if you are having a tough day and need a hug or to play dress up. I welcome your beautiful, smiling face. I welcome you if you vote blue or red or somewhere in between. I welcome you if you are tall or short or have big boobs or small boobs or are any shade of skin tone there is. I will even welcome you if you have curly hair or straight hair! You, yes YOU, are welcome and loved. And you know what? I can’t wait to see you❤️

Could we give each other grace?

o yesterday we did a thing . . .we did a brand shoot for Wildflower. I say brand because Wildflower is more than a truck of clothes, it is a brand. My vision for the brand is to have great clothes, an incredible shopping experience, and to empower YOU to know YOUR worth. That said, I want you to look at the photo. Really look at it. What is the story you are creating about it?

I don't know about you but I am a really great story creator. I type this while laughing because, though I do believe I am a great story creator, it may not be what is truly going on. We are so great at creating a story that makes us feel lesser than. A story where we compare ourselves to the photo and what we think is going on. I'm sure you have seen the comments and memes about not comparing your reality to somebody's facebook. Most people do not share all their junk on social media but you know all of yours. We create a story that the person we are looking at has it all together and can do all the things flawlessly while we are a hot mess.

So what is the story you created in your mind about me in this photo? Do you want to know the hot mess reality? Here ya go....

I have had a vision for this shoot and so I spent the past week attempting to execute. Yes, let's start with past week. Though I am a planner, I do a lot on the fly. I pulled this shoot together in a few days. I was thinking about it for awhile but the actual execution what last minute (probably the first recipe for challenge). Technically I "should" have done a fall shoot way earlier but it was not fall till last week right? LOL. So my vision involves my circle of people. At the last minute 1 of those people had to leave town, another one hates being in photos so she will cheer on from the sidelines, one agrees to shoot but was uncomfortable the whole time cause she also hates the attention, another loves it and agrees, and my daughter agrees but also hates it. Did I mention that the word for 2020 is pivot? Rethinking how this will look I throw it together. Now, keep in mind my husband still has to drive the truck due to my brain injury almost 2 years ago from car accident and I schedule this shoot while he is in the final day of a huge launch at work. How's this story going at this point? Let's continue...oh! I almost forgot my brilliance earlier in the day. I decided I should leave my hair sorta dirty so I could curl it. So I decided to use dry shampoo. As I was halfway through spraying my head I realized I was using hair spray. I mean for pete's sake people. Just thought you would enjoy that little detail!

3:30 rolls around and hubby is buried in launch so cannot drive truck to shoot. Um . .. it's a truck shoot so truck is kinda critical. I throw outfits in car for the ladies on the fly and we rush to shoot. Thankfully, he manages to escape long enough to get the truck to us (I'm sure you have figured out by now that there are many things missing that are needed so yay for the truck arriving). He literally sits at a table for the next couple of hours working while all of this shoot craziness is going on in the background (yes, got photos of this too!). We can take a moment to give him serious praise and thank you for being the amazing human he is! Even his boss is a Wildflower fan!!

Was the story you created close? When we get to this photo you are looking at. I was packing up. Carrying the plant, computer and phone to pack up and head to outside shots. By this point I was a bit less of a hot mess and, quite honestly, was having fun with my friends and my daughter. Thankfully I have learned the hard way to pivot daily and roll with it. Might take a minute to regroup but just a minute. I personally have also learned to chuckle at the story I am creating in my head knowing that there is so much more to the story.

My point? My point is to remind you that we are all a hot mess most of the time. We are all trying to figure out this crazy world we live in. Nobody has it all together. We fail and fail over and over. AND we succeed again and again. So next time you see that influencer looking perfect, remember the editing and craziness behind the scenes. Remember that their dog threw up all over the house and their kid colored the walls with sharpies. When you see that mom at school all done up at drop off (yes, you need to think back to when kids attended school)...I can only imagine what it took to get to that point in the morning. Not one single person has it all together. None of us. None of us has a perfect life with the perfect family and the perfect house on the perfect street.

Could we give each other grace? Could we cheer each other on? Could we remember that the woman who looks like she has it all together is probably the one who could most use a hug?

Love you beautiful wildflower! You are smart, strong, and brave. You do you this week in whatever hot mess needs to be done AND do it with grace for yourself and others. Cheers until next time....

Being Creative...

Would you join me in creating a community that builds each other up?

How are you all doing this hot week? As much as I love summer, these temps are tough with no A/C!! And, our beloved truck is lacking in insulation so she is an oven. Between unpredictable temps and constantly changing COVID guidelines, we are being creative to serve you all.

Last week, I had the privilege of taking the truck to a friends house for a private shopping event. It was totally last minute. She was going to have a photo shoot Friday for her biz and was interested in clothes to fit the look she was going for. The challenge....she struggles with anxiety and cannot wear a mast. Though she can legally claim this in a store, the looks and the shaming are just as anxiety producing. Being somebody who has health issues as well, I truly understand this struggle and it is very real.

So enter in our trusted Wildflower Fashion Truck! She is on wheels and we can bring her to YOU! We pulled up for 1 1/2 hours and played dress up in the middle of the day. Melissa had a few friends join us too! We followed all of the required guidelines and she could safely shop mask free. If you are on social media, pop over to Melissa's page . . I am primarily on Instagram so see her there @mkoehler. She shares her heart as well as all kinds of awesome photo tips, oil tips, etc! I am sure you will love her as much as I do.

I cannot control what mandates are put in place, but I can be creative to meet the needs of my wonderful wildflowers! Some of us are missing time with our girlfriends and haven't shopped in months. It is easy to bring the truck to a group of you . .we can be outside and you all get to reconnect. Many of our friends are struggling with various health issues that masks exacerbate or are going through cancer treatments so being very careful with exposure .. .we can bring the truck to you. Some of us just want to avoid the crowds and have some peace with a few friends, we can and we love to bring the truck to you.

For me it is such a joy to be able to give you a small bit of relief and "normalcy" in a time where chaos is our normal. We are strong and we are brave and we can weather the storm . .. and we need some moments to feel loved and cared for so we can go back to being brave and strong and storm weatherers (yep .. I am making up words).

Wildflowers let's be creative together. Let's create an awesome new environment together. We do not have to fall back and let everything control us . . we can be a wildflower. This is my heart for this community. I see it in each of you when you walk on the truck. I see it in you when you bring a friend to share the love. I love that we can come together
and reach so many.

One of my greatest passions is empowering and encouraging women and young girls to be all that they were created to be. I know some of you reading this will have all the negative thoughts like . . I am not created for much or I do not matter . .. .I am speaking to you right now . . .you ARE created for so much and YOU are valuable! So first we need to get on the same page ladies and know that each of us was created for an amazing purpose!

Wildflowers . . .our impact can be so huge. Each of you have supported the truck by shopping and being part of the community. Did you know that you are also impacting the lives of so many others?

I have added a section in the website's "About" page called Truck Impact . Here you will find the list of those people and organizations that we (we as in every single wildflower) support. I love that we can come together and reach so many. I am committed to continuing to support as many organizations as we can.

One fun way that I love to support other organizations who are empowering and encouraging women and young girls, is by donating a gift card and truck experience to them. They are able to auction this off and when we go have a truck party with the winner, we donate an additional 10% to the organization.

I tell you this not to "brag" about what I am doing, rather to share what this awesome wildflower community is doing together! In a world that is creating division right now, I want you to see the good you are doing and the difference this community is and will continue to make.

Truckin' With The Ladies

Happy Monday! I am so excited to sit down with you to share about a super fun event we had with the truck Saturday night! I am not sure I can convey what a blast it was to bring the truck to a bachelorette party. These gals were so much fun! My friend, Samantha, joined us to get some shots. What more can you ask for than twins who were twinning again and again?

This group of gals had been floating the river all day and enjoying the Bend life. After quick showers they raided the truck. I am pretty sure at one point half the clothes were in the house being tried on. They modeled for us and shopped while enjoying wine and cheese.

First, how gorgeous is she? This picture captures the evening and the fun we had! Loving the Alexis Jumpsuit pictured above. One of my favorite parts of a private event is getting to watch a group of friends connect and encourage each other. These ladies helped each other find that perfect outfit for them and there was an air of encouragement. With all the issues in the world today, everyone got to forget the drama and have fun.

The beautiful bride to be and her equally beautiful sister! I have had the privilege of working with these ladies in the past and was honored to share in their special celebration. They walked out of the house time after time with the same outfit on without knowing that they were doing that! Twinning for real in the Josie Jumpsuit! You can tell by this photo the joy of the night! We were having so much fun that the neighbors kept popping in to check out the action and pop on the truck!

You CAN Wear Jumpsuits!

Everyone loves a jumpsuit...

Happy Monday!! Everyone loves a jumpsuit but so many women think they cannot wear them. I hear time and again how they will be too flowy, too much fabric, not for large chested women, not for those with a “gut”, etc. I have heard the list and you know what...once tried on, the majority of women can find a jumpsuit that looks great on them!

The pictured jumpsuits are on my truck and I have seen them on many bodies. Some are longer and some a capris fit. Though there is not a “one style fits all”, there is surely one for you! I encourage you to take the plunge and try a few on. Please do not judge all jumpsuits by the 1 you tried. Give them a chance. A good jumpsuit can be a very versatile item for your wardrobe! You can be super casual with it over a swimsuit and a pair of flip flops OR dressed up with heels and accessories OR somewhere in the middle with a denim jacket and cute wedges. Whatever your style, give the jumpsuit a second look!

Since we have some new besties joining us, I thought I would introduce myself.

Hello Wildflowers! As I have been sitting down to start this blog, I have been brainstorming how the heck does one start?? Do you say something profound? Address all of the important issues currently taking over our world? Do you ignore everything? I am not sure that there is one right answer but I know at some point you simply need to start. So, in the midst of it all, I decided to say hello.

Since we have some new besties joining us recently, I thought I would quickly introduce myself. My name is Tara and I took over this awesome fashion truck October 1, 2019. I am passionate about encouraging women and want each of us to know we are uniquely created. Each and everyone of us brings value to this world. We live in a world that is trying to shut us down and I am here to tell you that YOU are a Wildflower. So to me, it's not just fashion. It's not just a top or dress or a hat....it is a vehicle to bring out a little more confidence in each of us. I have the privilege of working with women who may walk on my truck feeling down or discouraged and walk off standing a little bit taller with a smile on their face because they feel a bit more confident to face the world. My heart bursts with joy each and every time I am blessed to witness this.

I guess I already derailed from my intro! Besides being incredibly passionate about encouraging each of you, I have 3 amazing kids I could not be more proud of as well as a wonderful husband! We live in beautiful Bend, OR where the truck is located. While raising my kiddos, I worked. I generally worked in offices with the hustle and bustle of life. Along the way I had a couple of jobs I really loved but most were "fine". February 9, 2019 I was in a car accident that left me with a concussion and whiplash. I was shut down for months . . .when I say shut down, I literally mean months of laying in bed doing NOTHING. Can I tell you that this was a gift? Don't get me wrong...it was (and still is) so so hard. I felt terrible everyday, therapies were always hard, and a shower was a big deal. AND, in the midst of it all . .. I am super thankful. The injury in my brain has left me unable to tolerate certain lighting, chaotic environments, screens, etc. Being unable to return to my "JOB", it was time for a new career. The truck came into my space and it is perfect! Though I still have challenges from the injury, I am forever thankful that my life has changed for the better. ...side note..I am always happy to share more about this. I know that many of you are struggling with health issues as well as brain injuries. I would love to be a support to you. Please do not hesitate to reach out.

So here we are today in the midst of Covid-19 and a continued battle against racism. My heart breaks for the fear people are living in. It is not OK. This leads me to answer the question Why Wildflowers? I am so glad you asked! Sister, when you look in a field of wildflowers, they are individual and unique. They are not all the same. They are different colors and sizes and shapes. I celebrate you. I celebrate the individual that you are. I see that you are unique in your color, your size, your shape AND I love you for that uniqueness. You are welcome on my truck anytime and you bring my heart joy!
